How do we secure our event date?

Please send us your inquiry via CONTACT US and schedule time with our team. We kindly ask that before scheduling a virtual meeting, please read through our pricing options and confirm availability via email.

Can we see the event space in person?

Crook Point provides tours and walkthroughs by appointment only.  We prefer mornings during the week and during the busy wedding season, Sundays after twelve noon.  Please select SCHEDULE to book your appointment and remember we are on a private family estate and usually cannot accommodate same day or walk-in appointments.

We kindly ask that if you have made an appointment but can no longer make it, to please inform us at least 24 hours in advance, out of courtesy.

Do you provide virtual tours?

Upon request, we can provide virtual tours. In collaboration with A Beautiful Union, we have a spectacular venue tour overview of Crook Point. We also have specific venue and home video tours available. Please select the Homes and Venues tabs to view these tours.

Can I talk with someone before deciding to tour?

We offer virtual meetings to help explain our services and how to best leverage Crook Point for your destination wedding venue. To schedule a virtual meeting, select SCHEDULE. If you can’t find a time that works best for you & your fiancé’s schedule, please reach out and we’ll find a mutually agreeable time.

Please do make sure you review our package information before booking an appointment and if you can’t make the original scheduled time, we ask you to give us the courtesy of informing us prior to the meeting time- don’t stand us up!

What is the venue availability?

Please email OUR VENUE TEAM to understand what dates are available. We have several venues that accommodate various event sizes.

What is the venue accessibility?

Arch Rock Main Lawn is available for 2 1/2 days providing ample time to set up and break down the event. This is intentional as we prefer to book only one event at the same venue over a weekend; unlike most wedding venues. As a destination venue, we want to provide ample time for couples and their guests to enjoy our estate so you don’t feel rushed with ridged timelines.

Byrdies and Mervue are available based on the lodging time period. For other ceremony/elopement locations, please email OUR VENUE TEAM to understand the specific availability.

What is the Booking & Payment process for events at Crook Point?

Crook Point requires a 50% non-refundable booking fee that includes the venue, damage deposit and vacation homes.  Upon request, we work with clients on custom payment schedules.  Please request a draft contract for your preference event date & venue to get a better understanding of our policies and guidelines.

Are Service Fees included in the cost?

Service fees are usually added on top of the contract at most venues, which can take couples by surprise. This type of fee is in addition to any gratuities a couple may want to give.

Crook Point has included a 15% service fee in our venue pricing and we include this upfront to minimize additional costs after booking our location.

Are event rentals items available?

At Crook Point, we want to make planning a destination event as easy as possible. We have extensive event items available from heaters, lawn games, lounge furniture, chandeliers, arbors, pergolas, etc. Please review our current Event Rental Inventory for a list of items and quanties.

This exciting update to our services commences with events contracted after January 24, 2024 so you don’t feel like there are add ons after booking our estate. We still offer al a carte venue packages to provide flexibility for our couples.

For any additional events hosted onsite other than the contracted venue, please confirm if any fees apply and note prices are subject to change.

How do we obtain a marriage license?

For those living out of state, we have confirmed our county (Curry) will make exceptions to the 3 day waiting period for marriage licenses as long as you schedule an appointment ahead of time; making your wedding or elopement easy in our area. For more information, please inquire directly with the Curry County Clerk's Office.

Can we stay at Crook Point and easily elope in the California Redwoods ?

Yes, many couples come in from all over the country to stay in our unique location, hiring an elopement photographer to capture their majestic and intimate ceremony surrounded by the Giant California Redwoods. Here is a link for more information about these ceremonies.

What happens if it rains?

Oregon Coast weather can be moody so we encourage Clients to monitor the weather closely before their event. If the weather is projected to be less than perfect, then we recommend a tent rental vendor be contracted. At Arch Rock Main Lawn, we have prepared an area to accommodate event tents up to 40x100ft.

Our coast can experience heavy rainfall and the lawn takes time to dry out even in summer months. Crook Point will determine if the lawn is acceptable for use or if the tent area is required for reception setup of all tables and chairs for the cocktails, reception and dancing portion of the event.  At Crook Point’s discretion, if the lawn is too wet from rain, then all components outside the ceremony must be set up in the tent area of the venue.

At both Byrdies and Mervue, smaller tents can be accommodated in front of the homes and due to the event sizes, the homes could be arranged to accommodate the reception indoors.

Do we need an event planner when booking Crook Point?

As of May 28, 2023, we contractually require hiring one of our preferred event planners to help curate your event at Crook Point as they will know our space and the best way to leverage it. In addition, they will have existing relationships with vendors to help create your dream team so you can enjoy your celebration rather than manage all the details throughout your event stay. For our list of event planners, please review our Preferred Vendors list. If you want to bring on your own event planner, please reach out to discuss what is possible.

If planning several functions over the course of your stay at Crook Point, we encourage you to leverage your planner to provide services for the event and, as applicable, any rehearsal and post wedding events.

Does Crook Point provide a Venue Coordinator and how does this differ from an Event Planner?

At Crook Point, we want your celebration to go as smoothly and perfectly as possible.  Our focus will be geared towards the venue; making sure that the venue is prepped and ready to go, that your vendors are set up properly, and that things are running smoothly to ensure that the venue is meeting all of your wedding day needs.

Crook Point will provide venue contacts for assistance while onsite our estate.  Many couples may assume that if a venue has a Venue Coordinator, then they will not need an Event Planner or day of Event Management.  At Crook Point we wanted to clarify that a Venue Coordinator’s primary role is to oversee our venue. Clients can expect our resources to make sure rules are being followed, to confirm event rental delivery times, to answer any questions from vendors, provide information about the layout and to provide facilities in good working order.

How does catering work at Crook Point?

Clients must hire a fully licensed caterer for all events. Caterers must bring their own mobile kitchens or food warmers. No catering is allowed out of the vacation homes.

We have a catering trailer available for rent at Arch Rock Main Lawn.  There is another small kitchen available to rent at the Pistol River Friendship Hall. Please inquire directly for more information.

What is included in our destination venue packages?

Crook Point has white padded chairs, custom farm tables, patio heaters, lawn games in the reception venue fee. Some venues have lodging included and our Arch Rock Main Lawn has a permanent dance floor, outdoor bar and extensive cafe lighting throughout included in the venue fee. Please review our wedding packages for more detailed information.

Why is the venue fee so much higher than the vacation home rental fee?

Weddings are special events and not a typical stay or vacation, especially on our private family oceanfront estate. At Crook Point, we know what is involved logistically, which is one reason we include event rentals in our packages. We also understand the liabilities when hosting a wedding event in Oregon including the requirements for serving alcohol no matter what the size.

We also include our event rental inventory in the venue fee including our custom farm tables & pergolas, vintage & modern furniture, chandeliers and many other decor. (For events contracted starting Jan 24, 2024)

In addition, Airbnb doesn't allow events of any kind and won’t all any groups above 16.  VRBO hosts will sometimes allow events but they must be noted to the host before arrival and if not noted correctly, the booking can warrant a cancellation by the host.  We have had many groups come to Crook Point last minute after experiencing these cancellations.

Are Clients required to book Lodging separately or can we include them in the event contract?

To guarantee any homes, they will need to be included in the event contract. However, this is not a requirement. If Clients prefer to have guests book homes directly, they can do so via our website.

If not contracting for all desired homes, we encourage all Clients to book in a timely manner as they can book up 2+ years in advance especially in the high demand summer months and holidays.

What to expect after booking an Intimate Elopement or Micro Wedding package?

Crook Point & Events with Becca have put together a getting started guide to layout the process for planning your event whether it is a month or one year away.

What are the different Elopement and Micro Wedding themes?

We currently have 6 beautifully curated themes to choose from when booking our intimate event packages. These can be modified and once you book your event, you will be working closely with Becca to make adjustments based on your preferences

Can we bring our own vendors?

Yes, we allow you to bring your own vendors but they must be licensed and insured for some categories. Due to our remote location, we intend to provide flexibility so your can event can be exactly what you envision.

We do have a short list of vendors that we will not allow back onsite and please inquire directly with us for more information.

Do we need to provide meals to vendors?

Proving vendor meals is customary for all those hard working vendors taking care of your event. Please be sure to have your caterer make a little extra for those onsite and have some place settings in the vendor tent for them to use. Crook Point will usually have 1-2 folks on the property during your event and please make sure to work with all your vendors to have an accurate count of those needing a meal during the celebration.

How late can we celebrate?

Due to the seclusion at Arch Rock Main Lawn, we allow amplified music until midnight and last call is 11:15 pm. At our other venues, music is allowed until 9:00 pm.

Is WIFI provided at the venues?

Yes, we have internet access venues including our Arch Rock Main Lawn venue with a beta version of Starlink provided by SpaceX. Speed vary and can be up to 200 mbps allowing for remote working. Despite these technological improvements, we recommend using your time at Crook Point to disconnect from everyday life.

Is there cell reception at the venues?

The cell reception is limited at Crook Point making it the ideal retreat to get away from it all. Verizon, AT&T and US Cellular are more reliable carriers and there is some service at a few of the more westerly homes. Please make sure your guests have the required directions before leaving for your celebration.

Is event insurance required?

Yes, we require event insurance and if alcohol is served, hosted liquor liability, and most home owners insurance policies will cover events. In addition, below are some online insurance options to help you with this requirement and we have worked with each one providing our company details and insurance requirements:

Where are the venues & homes located?

We have multiple locations where we host events and on our large private ocean front estate. Once you have booked your venue, you’ll have the exact location and address(s) provided to help with vendor estimates and directions. Here is a property map to show the venue and home locations.

Please note our business mailing address is the only location published; however, we don’t have any events at this location.

What type of bathrooms are at the main venue?

At Arch Rock Main Lawn, we have 2 stainless steel bathrooms that are installed in a building. They are fully plumbed with running hot and cold water. Rule of thumb is 1 bathroom for every 50 guests. We also have 2 basic porta potties that are serviced regularly and are for overflow.

How far apart are the homes?

The five homes at The Cove are all within walking distance from each other. The remaining 3 homes are all on different road entrances off of US HWY 101 and each driveway is about 1/2 mile from each other. Walking is technically possible but not recommended and the distance door to door via car is about 5 minutes. Here is a property map to help better understand the estate.

Can we charge for alcohol at our event?

Corporate event clients can cerntainly opt for a no host bar; however, a special event liquor license is required when charging for drinks and this is in addition to the event insurance with hosted liquor liability. For wedding events, we require that the bar be hosted by the Client.

For more information about OLCC requirements, please check the OLCC site. An OLCC Special Event License is needed at special events when:

  • Alcohol will be sold.

  • Alcohol is available (but not being sold), and you are charging or accepting donations for admission, or where payment is required to attend the event.

  • Here is the link to the application.

  • The application needs to be submitted to the Curry County Commissioners for approval and then sent to the local OLCC office in Coos Bay, Or.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes, we allow clients to bring their own alcohol for their events but a licensed and insured Oregon Liquor & Cannabis Commission(OLCC) bartender is required for all events (rehearsal, wedding, etc.). No Cannabis is allowed at our homes and venues.

Do we need a bartender?

Per Oregon Liquor Control Commission, all weddings must have a licensed and insured bartender with a current OLCC server permit. At Crook Point, we also require that this important vendor not be a family member or friend.

Can we include our dog in the celebration?

Yes, your puppy can attend your celebration as we are extremely dog friendly. We have a fee per dog and ask that dogs are crated when left alone in the homes. Please note- no pets allowed at Lookout.

Does Crook Point provide setup/breakdown services?

At this time, Crook Point does not provide setup/breakdown services, unless you have booked an intimate elopement or petite wedding package.

Can we host additional events beyond our wedding ?

Our intent at Crook Point is to create a destination environment for families and friends to easily gather, relax, and celebrate over their stay.   Please reach out to discuss your plans for your entire reservation to ensure we can accommodate those additional celebrations and confirm if any fees or addition conditions are required. Crook Point views an event as any organized gathering at any of the homes, shared spaces, lawns areas, beaches and venues To help guests define what Crook Point considers an additional event, we consider it when the following occurs:

1) includes any offsite guests
2) exceeds the maximum house occupancy
3) food, beverage or additional services are required (including wear and tear, extra cleaning, trash, etc)

Are the venues ADA accessible?

Arch Rock Main Lawn is flat with no stairs. We have a 6 foot wide walkway at the main entrance that leads to the lawn. We have 2 bathrooms at the venue that are not officially ADA.

Mervue Estate main level is all on level ground and access to the lower section is easily accessible with no stairs. There is a half bath on the main floor as well for guests use.

Byrdies Beach Lawn is relatively flat. To access the house front entrance there are several stairs. The deck also has a few stairs to climb.

Please inquire directly to Kathleen to discuss your specific events needs.

Are there recommendations for additional lodging in the nearby towns?

Brookings:

Whales Head Resort
Beachfront Inn

Gold Beach:

Wild Flower Inn (5 suites & up to 14 guests)
Pacific Reef
Gold Beach Inn
Turtle Rock RV Resort

Do we have access to the beach for photos?

Yes, the wedding couple can have access to The Cove Beach for an intimate photo session.

Are beach bonfires allowed?

Beach Fires are allowed usually allowed year round in our particular section of the coast but please verify during the summer months. Beach fires must only be on the sand and away from any piles of drift wood.  Please also take note of our 10 pm curfew so not to disturb other Crook Point guests staying in the area. Please review the estimated tide schedule during your stay to get a better idea on how much of the beach will be accessible.

Is lodging included in any packages?

When booking Byrdies Lawn & Mervue Estate, lodging is included. At Arch Rock Main Lawn, no homes are required to host your event at this venue providing flexibility for our clients. Clients can book none, some or all our homes depending on their lodging needs.

How many weddings occur over a weekend?

At Crook Point, we at most will have two weddings at Arch Rock Main Lawn per week usually on a Saturday and a Tuesday. With our 2 1/2 day venue rental, we want our clients to have space preventing a rushed setup, rehearsal, event day and breakdown. This venue timeframe compliments our home rental periods, which are also a 3 night minimum most of the calendar year.

If we have events at our other small venues, they will usually be on different days as we do our best to have only one wedding scheduled on any given day. No one wants to run into another wedding couple on their special day and we especially don’t want that to happen at Crook Point.

When is the best time get married at Crook Point?

We host events year-round and our wedding season typically runs from May through October. The best months of the year on our particular coastline are July and August. We have lovely summer days that time of year. When we do experience fog, it tends to burn off by noon and then may gather back in after sunset creating a lovely atmosphere and crisp evenings.

Similar to the San Francisco Bay Area, we also experience an “Indian Summer” warming trend in September and October with intermittent light rain from time to time. Temperatures can vary from mid-50s to high 70s.

Our heavy rainy season begins in late November and continues through February. Once we approach the Spring Season, March through May is 50/50 rain and sun.

For historical weather averages, please see Intellicast and use the 97415 zip code to target the Brookings microclimate.
