Event FAQs

  • Traveling to Crook Point is easier than you might expect, especially for a secluded coastal destination. While we’re nestled on a private stretch of the Southern Oregon Coast, guests have several convenient travel options:

    • By Air:

      • Advanced Air, now a partner of Alaska Airlines, offers direct flights to Del Norte County Airport (CEC) from Hawthorne (HHR) in Los Angeles and Oakland (OAK) in the Bay Area. This partnership allows for seamless flight connections and baggage transfers through Alaska Airlines’ booking system. CEC is just 45 minutes south of Crook Point.

      • Advanced Air also offers private charter flights and can help accommodate special requests for large groups, wedding parties, or corporate retreats.

      • Rogue Valley International Airport (MFR) in Medford, OR, is approximately 3 hours away and offers multiple daily flights from major cities.

      • Portland (PDX) and San Francisco (SFO) are also convenient options for those planning a scenic drive.

    • By Car:

      • From Medford: ~3 hours via scenic Highway 199

      • From Eugene: ~4 hours

      • From Portland: ~6 hours via I-5, OR-38 W and Highway 101 OR take the coastal route via Licoln City down HWY 101

      • From San Francisco: ~7 hours north straight up HWY 101

    • Private Flights & Charters:
Guests may also charter private flights into Gold Beach Municipal Airport or Del Norte County Airport (CEC).

While Crook Point is off the beaten path, that’s part of its charm. Our remote setting offers unspoiled coastal beauty, privacy, and a true retreat, yet it’s surprisingly accessible by air or road.

  • At Crook Point, we offer two packages for our venues: Essential and Estate.

Essential Package: The Essential Package offers maximum flexibility, allowing you to select your preferred venue space and customize your event by adding rentals as needed. This package includes a core set of event rentals per venue to support the basics, while giving you full control over additional enhancements:

    • Seating: White padded chairs

    • Tables: Custom farm tables and banquet tables

    • Climate Control: Patio heaters

    • Entertainment: Lawn games

Estate Package: The Estate Package includes Crook Point’s standard event rentals as part of the package fee, offering a seamless and stress-free planning experience. This package provides access to nearly all event rentals, with the exception of designated premium items. Premium rentals—such as luxury lounge furniture, portable bars, gold flatware, and specialty seating (including Crossback and Louis dining chairs)—are available for an additional fee and must be reserved in advance. All premium items are clearly marked in our event inventory catalog.

Our event rentals cover a broad range of categories to support your celebration:

    • Seating: White padded chairs

    • Tables: Custom farm tables, accent, bistro, cocktail and banquet tables

    • Climate Control: Patio heaters

    • Entertainment: Lawn games

    • Decor: Pergolas, signage, place setting wall, Edison chandeliers and lounge vignettes

    • Dining: Place settings, including plates, glassware, and stainless steel flatware

Please note that neither package includes additional services such as catering, florals, bartending, or coordination. These elements are booked separately, allowing you the flexibility to customize your wedding with your preferred vendors.

For more details, please review our wedding packages to find the best fit for your special day.

  • Our intent at Crook Point is to create a destination environment for families and friends to easily gather, relax, and celebrate over their stay.   Please reach out to discuss your plans for your entire reservation to ensure we can accommodate those additional celebrations and confirm if any fees or additional conditions are required. Crook Point views an event as any organized gathering at any of the homes, shared spaces, lawn areas, beaches, and venues. To help guests define what Crook Point considers an additional event, we consider it when the following occurs:

    1) includes any offsite guests
    2) exceeds the maximum house occupancy
    3) food, beverage, or additional services are required (including wear and tear, extra cleaning, trash, etc)m description

  • Yes. We contractually require couples to work with one of our preferred coordinators or event planners to help curate their celebration. These professionals are intimately familiar with our venue layout, timing considerations, and logistics, ensuring you make the most of your time at Crook Point. They also have established relationships with trusted local vendors, allowing you to focus on enjoying your event rather than managing details.

A list of approved professionals is available on our Preferred Vendors page. If you wish to work with a planner not currently listed, please reach out in advance to discuss potential options.

Due to our remote coastal location, limited nearby services, and multi-site layout, we strongly recommend hiring a full-service planner. For celebrations that include multiple events—such as a welcome gathering, rehearsal, ceremony, and farewell brunch—working with one planner across all functions ensures consistency, reduces stress, and enhances the overall experience at Crook Point.

  • Venue Manager(Crook Point staff)

Role: Oversees venue-related logistics and enforces venue policies
    Focus: Property, not party

    Responsibilities:

    • Unlocks and secures event spaces

    • Oversees basic site maintenance and cleanliness

    • Enforces venue rules (parking, noise, end time, etc.)

    • Coordinates access for rentals and vendor deliveries

    • Provides general support related to the property

    Not Responsible For:

    • Creating or managing your event timeline

    • Coordinating vendor setup or arrival

    • Directing the ceremony, reception, or processional

    • Setup or breakdown of décor or rentals

    Day-of Coordinator

Role: Executes a pre-planned event and manages the wedding day
Focus: Timeline + logistics on the event day

    Responsibilities:

    • Steps in 4–6 weeks before the event

    • Finalizes the timeline and reviews couples planning notes

    • Confirms vendor arrival times and logistics

    • Usually runs the ceremony rehearsal if included in contract

    • Coordinates the event flow from setup to reception

    Not Responsible For:

    • Booking vendors or managing contracts

    • Designing the layout or décor

    • Budgeting, sourcing rentals, or styling

    Full-Service Event Planner

Role: Oversees the full planning process from vision to execution
Focus: Everything—planning, design, logistics, and vendor management

    Responsibilities:

    • Begins work 12–18 months before the event

    • Helps define your vision, budget, and priorities

    • Sources and manages all vendors

    • Designs the layout, décor, and overall experience

    • Manages your timeline and acts as your main point of contact from start to finish

    • If contracted for multiple days/events, oversees all events during your Crook Point stay (welcome party, rehearsal dinner, farewell brunch, etc.)

    Not Responsible For:

    • Nothing—the planner is your dedicated project manager throughout

  • We’re always here to support your time on-site, but our team does not act as planners or coordinators. We do not manage vendors, décor setup, rehearsals, or event timelines.

That said, if we’re notified in advance and there’s a clear gap in service, Crook Point may be able to offer limited consulting support—such as advising on logistics or identifying gaps in vendor coverage—provided those services are discussed and contracted ahead of time. Please note: This does not replace professional planning or day-of coordination.

Because of our remote coastal location, limited nearby services, and multi-site layout, we strongly recommend hiring a full-service planner to help you design, coordinate, and manage your celebration from start to finish.

  • For Clients who wish to add additional support, Crook Point offers limited setup and breakdown services at an hourly rate, subject to staff availability. These services may include:

    • Placement of chairs and small furnishings

    • Rental staging and basic rearrangement

All finishing touches, timeline management, vendor coordination, and décor styling remain the responsibility of the Client’s professional Event Planner or Day-of Coordinator.

To ensure proper planning, Crook Point requires:

    • A 60-minute consultation with the Venue Manager to confirm the scope of services and identify coverage gaps.

    • Services contracted in advance at the published hourly rate, billed per staff member, per hour.

Hourly setup/breakdown services are not guaranteed unless reserved in writing before the event and will be invoiced separately.

  • We host events year-round, with our primary wedding season running from May through October. The Oregon Coast offers a mild, inviting climate and breathtaking scenery in every season. While weather can be unpredictable, that variability is part of the coast’s charm—each time of year brings its own distinct beauty.

Spring & Early Summer (May–June): These months offer a lovely balance of sunshine and light coastal breezes, with wildflowers in bloom and vibrant green landscapes. Temperatures typically range from the mid-50s to high 60s, creating comfortable conditions for outdoor celebrations.

Midsummer & Early Fall (July–October): Late summer and early fall are among the most sought-after times on the coast, featuring warm days, crisp evenings, and minimal rainfall. September and October often experience a late-season warming trend similar to the San Francisco Bay Area, with mild temperatures and stunning sunsets. Any rain that does occur is usually light and short-lived.

Late Fall & Winter (November–February): The cooler months bring a more dramatic coastal atmosphere, with misty mornings, moody skies, and the occasional storm—an ideal setting for intimate elopements and cozy gatherings.

No matter the season, Crook Point offers a striking natural backdrop that makes every event memorable. For historical weather trends, we recommend visiting Intellicast and using the 97415 zip code to explore Brookings’ unique microclimate.

  • For couples traveling from out of state, Curry County may grant exceptions to the three-day marriage license waiting period when an appointment is scheduled in advance, making weddings and elopements easier to plan in our area. For details and eligibility, please contact the Curry County Clerk's Office.

  • At Crook Point, events can be hosted any day of the week. At Arch Rock Main Lawn, we typically host up to two weddings per week, most often on Saturday and Tuesday, though this is not a limitation on availability.

Our two-and-a-half-day venue rental allows time for setup, rehearsal, the event day, and breakdown without feeling rushed, and aligns with our three-night minimum home rental for most of the year.

Weddings at our other smaller venues may be scheduled on different days. While we aim to host only one wedding per day across the property, this cannot be guaranteed.

  • Due to Arch Rock Main Lawn's seclusion, we allow amplified music until midnight; the last call is 11:15 p.m.

Please inquire for more details for our other venues as the curfew various per location.

  • Yes, your puppy is welcome to attend your celebration. Crook Point is a dog-friendly, working cattle ranch. Please review our Pet Policy for full details.

A per-dog fee applies, and we ask that dogs be crated when left unattended in the homes. Please remember to clean up after your pet; dog waste bags are provided at the homes and venue. Please note that pets are not permitted at Lookout.

  • Beach fires are generally allowed year-round in our section of the coast; however, please verify current restrictions during the summer months. Fires must be contained to designated fire rings, placed on the sand, and kept away from the driftwood and vegetation line.

Please observe our 10:00 p.m. curfew to avoid disturbing other Crook Point guests. We also recommend reviewing the estimated tide schedule during your stay to better understand beach accessibility.

  • The wedding couple may access The Cove Beach for an intimate photo session. Please share your itinerary with our team in advance and let us know if you plan to use additional areas of the property.

  • Oregon Coast weather can be unpredictable, and we encourage clients to monitor conditions closely leading up to their event. If weather forecasts are less than ideal, we recommend securing a tent rental vendor. At Arch Rock Main Lawn, a designated area is available to accommodate event tents up to 40 x 100 feet.

The coast can experience heavy rainfall, and the lawn may require additional time to dry—even during summer months. Crook Point will determine whether the lawn is suitable for use or if the designated tent area must be used for cocktail hour, reception seating, and dancing. If the lawn is deemed too wet, all reception elements outside of the ceremony will be relocated to the tent area at Crook Point’s discretion.

At Byrdies and Mervue, smaller tents can be placed in front of the home or on the concrete patio or deck, and due to the scale of these events, receptions may also be arranged indoors.

  • Crook Point offers tours and walkthroughs by appointment only. Please select  SCHEDULE to book your visit. As we are a private, family-owned estate, we are typically unable to accommodate same-day or walk-in appointments.

Out of courtesy, we kindly ask that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

  • We offer virtual meetings to review our services and help you make the most of Crook Point as your destination wedding venue. To schedule a virtual meeting, please select SCHEDULE. If you don’t see a time that works for you and your fiancé, feel free to reach out and we’ll find a mutually convenient option.

We ask that you review our package information before booking an appointment. If you’re unable to attend your scheduled meeting, please let us know in advance so we can offer the time to another couple.

  • We offer virtual tours upon request. In collaboration with A Beautiful Union, we also provide a comprehensive video overview of Crook Point, along with individual venue and home tours. Please select the Homes and Venues tabs to view available tours.

  • Arch Rock Main Lawn is available for a two-and-a-half-day rental, allowing ample time for event setup and breakdown. Unlike most wedding venues, this extended timeframe is intentional, as we typically host only one event at the same venue over a weekend. As a destination venue, we prioritize giving couples and their guests time to enjoy the estate without feeling rushed or confined to rigid timelines.

Byrdies and Mervue are available based on lodging availability. For other ceremony or elopement locations, please email OUR VENUE TEAM to confirm specific availability.

  • Please email OUR VENUE TEAM to learn more about available dates. We offer several venues on the property that accommodate a range of event sizes.

  • Yes, many couples travel from across the country to stay at our unique location, often hiring an elopement photographer to capture a majestic and intimate ceremony surrounded by the Giant California Redwoods. Please visit the link for more information about these ceremonies.

  • We currently have six beautifully curated themes to choose from when booking our intimate event packages. These can be modified, and once you book your event, you will be working closely with Becca to make adjustments based on your preferences

  • Crook Point & Events with Becca have put together a getting-started guide to lay out the process for planning your event, whether it is a month or one year away.

  • At Arch Rock Main Lawn, no homes are required to host your event, providing flexibility for our clients. When booking Byrdies Lawn & Mervue Estate, lodging is priced separately and Clients can book those Venues for hourly rentals or for a full event. Depending on their lodging needs, clients can book none, some, or all of our homes.

  • To guarantee specific homes, they must be included in the event contract; however, this is not required. Clients may also choose to have guests book lodging directly through our website.

If not all desired homes are included in the contract, we strongly encourage booking as early as possible to secure preferred lodging. Homes may be reserved up to two years in advance, particularly during high-demand summer months and holidays.

  • At Crook Point, we aim to make planning a destination event as easy as possible. We offer an extensive collection of event items, including heaters, lawn games, lounge furniture, chandeliers, arbors, and pergolas. Please review our current Event Rental Inventory for a full list of available items and quantities.

This update applies to events contracted after January 24, 2024, allowing couples to avoid unexpected add-ons after booking our estate. We also continue to offer à la carte venue packages to provide added flexibility.

For any additional events hosted onsite beyond the contracted venue event, please confirm whether additional fees apply. All pricing is subject to change.

  • Weddings are special events—not typical stays or vacations—especially on our private, family-owned oceanfront estate. At Crook Point, we understand the logistical and legal requirements of hosting weddings in Oregon, including alcohol service regulations regardless of event size. For this reason, most of our venue packages include event rentals.

Our venue packages also include access to our event rental inventory, such as custom farm tables, vintage and modern furniture, chandeliers, and additional décor (for events contracted starting January 24, 2024).

Please note that Airbnb does not allow events of any kind and limits group sizes to 16 guests. While some VRBO hosts may allow events, they must be disclosed in advance; failure to do so can result in cancellation. We often host groups who come to Crook Point after experiencing last-minute cancellations elsewhere.

  • Crook Point requires a 50% non-refundable booking fee, which includes the venue and lodging. Custom payment schedules may be available upon request.

To better understand our policies and guidelines, please request a draft proposal for your preferred event date and venue.

  • Yes, we require event insurance, and if alcohol is served, hosted liquor liability and most homeowners insurance policies will cover events. In addition, below are some online insurance options to help you with this requirement we have worked with each one, providing our company details and insurance requirements:

  • Many venues add service fees to contracts later in the process, which can come as a surprise. These fees are typically separate from any gratuities a couple may choose to give.

At Crook Point, a 5% service fee is already included in our venue pricing and is paid directly to our staff managers and leads. We include this upfront to keep pricing transparent and minimize additional costs after booking.

  • Yes, we allow you to bring your own vendors, but they must be licensed and insured for some categories. Due to our remote location, we intend to provide flexibility so your event can be exactly what you envision.

We do have a short list of vendors that we will not allow back onsite and please inquire directly with us for more information.

  • Clients must hire a fully licensed caterer for all events. No event catering is allowed in the homes.

Crook Point has a catering trailer available for daily rental at Arch Rock Main Lawn and there is another small local kitchen available for rent at the Pistol River Friendship Hall. Please inquire directly for more information.

  • Proving vendor meals is customary for all those hardworking vendors taking care of your event. Please be sure to have your caterer make a little extra for those onsite and have some place settings in the vendor tent for them to use. Crook Point will usually have 1-2 folks on the property during your event, and please make sure to work with all your vendors to have an accurate count of those needing a meal during the celebration.

  • Per the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, all weddings must have a licensed and insured bartender with a current OLCC server permit

At Crook Point, we also require that this important vendor not be a family member or friend.

  • Yes, we allow clients to bring their own alcohol for their events, but a licensed and insured Oregon Liquor & Cannabis Commission (OLCC) bartender is required for all events (rehearsal, wedding, etc.). Please note that we DO NOT allow Cannabis on our estate: homes, venues, beaches, etc

  • Corporate event clients can certainly opt for a no-host bar; however, a special event liquor license is required when charging for drinks, and this is in addition to the event insurance with hosted liquor liability. For wedding events, we require that the client host the bar.

For more information about OLCC requirements, please check the OLCC site. An OLCC Special Event License is needed at special events when:

    • Alcohol will be sold.

    • Alcohol is available (but not being sold), and you are charging or accepting donations for admission, or where payment is required to attend the event.

    • Here is the link to the application.

    • The application needs to be submitted to the Curry County Commissioners for approval and then sent to the local OLCC office in Coos Bay, OR.

  • Select venues at Crook Point offer internet access, including the Arch Rock Main Lawn, which is equipped with a Starlink satellite system by SpaceX. Internet speeds are usually around 100 Mbps, making it possible to stay connected for remote work when needed. Even so, Crook Point is designed as a place to slow down, and we invite guests to embrace the rare opportunity to unplug and fully immerse themselves in the surrounding natural beauty.

  • Cell reception is limited at Crook Point, making it the ideal retreat to get away from it all. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile/US Cellular are more reliable carriers, and there is some service at a few of the more westerly homes. Please ensure your guests have the directions before leaving for your celebration. WIFI is available at all homes and venues so please configure your phones for WIFI calling upon arrival.

  • We host events at multiple locations and on our large private oceanfront estate. Once you have booked your venue, you’ll receive the exact location and address(s) to help with vendor estimates and directions. Here is a property map showing the venue and home locations.

Please note our business mailing address is the only location published; however, we don’t have any events at this location.

  • At Arch Rock Main Lawn, we have two stainless steel bathrooms installed in a building. They are fully plumbed with running hot and cold water. The rule of thumb is one bathroom for every 50 guests. We also have two basic porta potties that are serviced regularly and are for overflow.

  • Arch Rock's Main Lawn is flat and without stairs. A 6-foot-wide walkway leads to the lawn from the main entrance. The venue has two bathrooms that are not officially ADA.

The main level of Mervue Estate is on level ground, and access to the lower section is easily accessible with no stairs. There is also a half bath on the main floor.

Byrdies Beach Lawn is relatively flat. There are several stairs to access the house's front entrance. The deck also has a few stairs to climb.

Please contact us to discuss your specific event needs directly.

  • The five homes at The Cove are all within walking distance of each other. The remaining three homes are on different road entrances off US HWY 101, and each driveway is about 1/2 mile from each other. Walking is technically possible but not recommended, and the distance from door to door via car is about 5 minutes. Here is a property map to help better understand the estate.
