We’re grateful for the opportunity to give back…

We know the best part of life is giving back, which is why we’re honored to be donors to these organizations.

A Family Legacy on This Coast

At Crook Point, we are more than hosts. We are caretakers of a family legacy that spans more than 170 years on the southern Oregon coast.

Our story begins with our third great-grandfather, Theron Wells Crook, Sr., who rode west on horseback in 1852 and became the first settler of Pistol River, Oregon. His son, Asa Hamilton Crook, the peninsula's namesake, served as Curry County's second sheriff and was later elected to represent the region as a state representative in Salem. For seven generations since, the Crook family has worked this land. Cattle have been part of our operation from the beginning, and for more than a century we also raised Romney sheep alongside them. Today we run a working cattle ranch of over 80 Hereford and Angus, and our broader family enterprises include timber and commercial rock and sand quarries. All of it rooted in the same 3,000 acres we first called home.

Your Home Away from Home

Our family opened the first of Crook Point’s homes to guests in 1973, when Kathleen’s parents began welcoming visitors to the coast and keeping the earliest rental records still in our files today. Each home is thoughtfully designed to offer a peaceful, luxurious retreat, blending modern comfort with the natural character of the Oregon coast. Whether you come for a quiet escape, a family gathering, or a romantic weekend, we take pride in offering the same personalized welcome our family has shared for more than fifty years.

Where Your Story Begins

In 2018, we expanded our offerings to include weddings and events, continuing a tradition of gathering that goes back to Asa’s own day. In the 1870s, Asa traveled to Crescent City and persuaded Levi Strauss & Co. to use the cove just north of our property as a northern landing point for their supply ships, so that neighboring families would no longer have to make the long trip south for trade. To signal arrivals, he commissioned a church bell in San Francisco, had it shipped up the coast, and installed it on the family’s property. Whenever a ship docked, the bell was rung, and neighbors loaded up their wagons and made their way to what is now Crook Point. That bell, still in the family’s care, will soon be restored and installed at our Arch Rock Main Lawn venue. Today, when couples exchange vows here, they continue a tradition of celebration that this land has held for nearly two centuries.

Giving Back

Giving back is built into how we operate. With every lodging reservation, a contribution is made on your behalf to the Friends of the Otter Rock Marine Reserve through our partnership with Kind Traveler, supporting sea otter habitat and marine education along Oregon’s south coast. For every wedding and elopement we contract, a donation is made to VOW for Girls, a global nonprofit working with the wedding industry to end the international child marriage crisis. Beyond these partnerships, we are longtime supporters of a range of local and regional nonprofits throughout the southern Oregon coast. Because luxury and stewardship, celebration and service, should go hand in hand.

Our Promise to You

Whether you visit as a lodging guest, a wedding client, or both, our family is committed to making your time unforgettable. We pour our hearts into every detail, because sharing Crook Point with you is our greatest joy. We look forward to welcoming you to our family’s corner of the southern Oregon coast, the place we have called home for seven generations.
